Experience
Served as a liaison officer in Nairobi, Kenya while deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA). The first assignment was in 2013 as the CJTF-HOA liaison officer to the USAID missions in Kenya and East Africa Regional. The second time was in 2016 as the liaison officer to the International Peace Support Training Center (IPSTC), British Peace Support Team (BPST) and the
East Africa Standby Force (EASF). Both assignments involved working out of the US Embassy and representing the equities of the CJTF-HOA Commander in support of the stabilization mission in Somalia. Prior to and in between these assignments I served for a total of four years as a Program Officer at US Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany in the Strategy, Plans and Programs Directorate. I primarily
supported disaster preparedness programs and an HIV/AIDS prevention program by conducting engagements for the respective Program Managers as well as planning and facilitating exercises and workshops. This involved frequent travel to east and west Africa.
Previous military experience includes deployments to Iraq and Germany in a security role.
My civilian experience includes about 12 years working as a Telemetry and Medical-Surgical nurse in acute care hospitals and three years working in a state Psychiatric facility.
