Contract Award: $54M Contract Extension in Djibouti and Kenya

Post Date: March 1, 2013 | Category: Contract Award Activity

The size of the U.S. military footprint in Africa has increased since the creation of U.S. Africa Command in October 2008. At the end of October 2008, there were about 2,600 U.S. military personnel and Department of Defense civilians on the African continent or on ships within the command’s area of responsibility. The number today is about 5,000, more than half of which represents the service members who serve tours at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, with the remainder serving on a temporary basis ranging from a few days to a few weeks. Much of this change is attributable to an increase in the number of exercises and military-to-military engagement programs in order to better enable African nations and regional organizations to strengthen their defense capabilities. On a much smaller scale, it also reflects a modest increase in the staff sizes of DOD offices resident in U.S. embassies, which average just a small number of staff members.

On February 28, 2013 Department of Defense awarded PAE Government Services Inc$54,013,255 to extend their period of performance for recurring base operating support services at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti and Camp Simba, Manda Bay, Kenya in Africa.

The work to be performed provides for general management and administration services; public safety (harbor security, security operations and emergency management program); ordnance; air operations (airfield facilities and passenger terminal and cargo handling); supply; morale, welfare and recreation; galley; housing (bachelor quarters and laundry); facility support (facilities investment, janitorial, pest control services and refuse services); utilities (water, waste water and electrical); base support vehicle and equipment; and environmental.

 ABOUT PAE Government Services Inc.

In 2006, PAE became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Lockheed Martin Corporation. While operating under Lockheed Martin ownership, PAE strengthened its corporate infrastructure and its focus on performance excellence, while continuing to provide superior logistical and support services to United States and foreign government agencies and international aid organizations.

In April 2011, private equity firm Lindsay Goldberg purchased PAE from Lockheed Martin. Six months later, in October 2011, PAE completed the acquisition of Defense Support Services LLC (DS2), a leading provider of military aircraft and vehicle maintenance, logistics and base support services. Under new ownership and with the addition of DS2, PAE continues to provide the services that support our customers' most challenging missions.

It was so sad that why the good company turned their eyes on their good employee for some of the meaningless political reasons. Thank you so much for your understanding and assistance.
