Experience
I am a Security and Safety Consultant and I am the Security Training Manager and Security Adviser for Hawthorne ProActive, a Northern Ireland (NI) based company.
I am the Lead Trainer delivering Hostile Environment Awareness Training courses (HEAT), six per year each of six days in duration, exclusively to Thomson Reuters (TR) News Agency staff (377 trained to date) from various international, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
I have delivered 3 two-day HEAT courses in Moscow, Russia, to TR’s East European staff and
2 two-day HEAT courses in Mexico City to Editors & Journalists from various Mexican Media organisations.
I have also twice delivered the six-day HEAT course in N.I. to a total of 34 Freelance journalists.
In March 2018, in N.I., I delivered a HEAT course & assisted with medical training to 6 members of CADUS, a Berlin based NGO which provides humanitarian aid in Syria.
I have delivered four Conflict Management courses to a total of 123 students at the University of Ulster, Jordanstown from 2016 to 2019 and in August 2019 I delivered a Conflict Management course to 5 members of University staff newly appointed as Residential Life Co-Ordinators.
From November of 2015, to date, I have delivered 55 Travel Safety and Security courses (which I have designed) in London to 384 corporate and financial executives from CDC Group plc, UK Government Department for International Development (DfID) including 8 Board and Investment Committee members. I have also delivered the training to CDC staff in Bengaluru (19), Mumbai (6) in India and 6 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In April and May 2015, I was employed in Doha, Qatar where I delivered Leadership training to 26 Qatari Ministry of the Interior Police Warrant Officers attending a course for promotion to Commissioned Officer.
During August and September 2014, I was deployed in Donetsk south east Ukraine working for five weeks as an operational Security Adviser to Thomson Reuters journalists in the field.
