Contract Award: $84M for Base Operations, Logistics and Security Services in Iraq

Over the last 10 years, the Iraqi government has committed to purchasing several billion dollars worth of U.S. military equipment. Since the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from Iraq in December 2011, more than a dozen large U.S. defense firms have deployed personnel and equipment to support these programs.

The logistics, construction, and life support services at these facilities have been provided under the U.S. Army’s Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) which comes to an end in December 2013.

SOS International has served as an exclusive provider for the government of Iraq for logistics, construction, and life support services at four military facilities in Iraq military sites located in Besmaya, Balad, Taji, and Um Qasr.

Yesterday Department of Defense (DoD) announced SOS International won an $84,030,376 contract from the U.S. Air Force to provide base operations, logistics and security services at an installation in Iraq.

The firm-fixed-price contract is intended to fulfill a foreign military sales requirement for the Iraqi government, the Defense Department said Friday. Work will occur through August 2014 and the Air Force is allocating $41,160,000 at the time of the award.
