U.S. Embassy Warns Americans in Jordan to Shelter Amid Missile Threats

JORDAN — Tensions across the Middle East have suddenly spilled into Jordan’s skies — with official warnings now telling people to take cover as airborne threats move through the country’s airspace.
The U.S. Embassy in Amman issued an urgent security alert on June 11, 2026, reporting that missiles, drones, or rockets have been detected in Jordanian airspace and urging anyone in the country to seek overhead cover and shelter in place immediately, stay indoors, follow local instructions, and monitor official updates.
This warning aligns with a dramatic escalation in regional conflict, including recent Iranian projectile launches toward neighboring countries and intensified military strikes by and against U.S. and regional forces, prompting air-defense activations and public safety advisories in Jordan and nearby Gulf states.
Officials are also encouraging U.S. citizens to enroll in STEP for push alerts and to track the Embassy’s page for real‑time updates as the situation continues to evolve.
