Or you work for Blackwater, the infamous private security firm, and you go around shooting people. Blackwater rose to notoriety in 2007 for the Nisour Square incident in which 17 Iraqi civilians were killed and 20 were injured when Blackwater personnel, under contract for the U.S. State Department, opened fire while clearing a route for U.S. officials.

US Army Africa Command (Africom) wants private contractors to move military equipment and supplies from the US to Egypt and 55 other countries within its Area of Responsibility (AOR). This comes hard on the heels of a transport contract awarded by the US Army’s Transport Command (US-TRANSCOM) to Berry Aviation to provide to provide air transport service in support of operations in western and central Africa. This contract is reportedly worth $49 million.

Fluor Corporation FLR announced today that the U.S. Army has selected Fluor as the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) IV contractor to provide regional forward planning support for Africa Command (AFRICOM), to include the countries within Africa, the African Union and African regional security organizations, and Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), to include Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
