Camp Arifjan, Kuwait

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Middle East District awarded a contract for the construction of nine pre-engineered humidity controlled metal storage buildings at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Contrack International Inc., of McLean, Va., was awarded the contract for $54.6 million on Sept. 27. The period of performance is 17 months.

The Middle East District provides engineering, construction and related services in the Middle East, Central Asia and other areas. Its work includes designing and constructing facilities for use by U.S. forces, performing engineering activities for other U.S. government and foreign agencies, and providing operations and maintenance services for various customers. In addition, the District provides project management, engineering, contracting and support services to USACE districts in Afghanistan.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Middle East District solicited an announcement for construction firms experienced in working within Kuwait who are interested in submitting a bids offer for the construction of the APS-5 Warehouses in the Camp Arifjan, Kuwait back in May 2013.

This project will construct structures with electrical connections to base power and provide a power plant. Each structure will have humidity-controlled equipment to keep the facility at the required humidity level. Supporting facilities include underground electrical service, lighting, concrete pads, paving, drainage, and site preparation. Electrical power will be provided by connecting to a power station and to a 33KV existing substation 5K from the project site with direct bury cable to a new substation; transformers for every two buildings.
