Contract Award: DRS Technical Services Contract Renewed in Afghanistan

DRS Technical Services Inc., Herndon, Va., was awarded a $25,511,888 modification (PZ0008) to a previously awarded time-and-materials, option-filled contract (W52P1J-13-C-0008) for the development, deployment and maintenance of tactical and management information technology systems and products.

Work will be performed in Afghanistan. A combination of fiscal 2013 operations and maintenance and fiscal 2013 procurement funds in the amount of $14,119,443 are being obligated on this award.

DRS Technologies recently was listed on Military Times EDGE magazine’s annual “Best for Vets: Employers” list. Contract Award: $134M Construction Contract: Deveselu Air Base, Romania

Department of Defense awards Kellogg, Brown & Root Services Inc. (KBR) for construction at Military Deveselu Air Base in Romania. The United States and Romania jointly selected the Deveselu Air Base near Caracal, Romania, to host a U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense System which employs the SM-3 interceptor (also referred to as the “Aegis Ashore System”). The deployment to Romania is anticipated to occur in the 2015 timeframe as part of the second phase of the European Phased Adaptive Approach (EPAA) – the U.S. national contribution to a NATO missile defense architecture.

KBR is the incumbent on the existing USC contract and has operated continuously for this client in the Balkans since 1995. Currently, KBR is providing services in Kosovo, Romania and Germany under the USC Contract. KBR has been instrumental in the military’s success in the region from the DoD’s initial deployment on a fast-paced contingency mission to their current sustainment operations.

Contract Award: $6.9M to Procure Information Technology Services in Afghanistan

Trace Systems, Inc. Small DoD contractor headquartered out of McLean, Virginia had their contract renewed today in Afghanistan. Trace Systems first won the contract back in 2010 after a full and open competition by the Bagram Regional Contracting Center.

Trace Systems has been supporting communications, networking, IT, and IA requirements throughout Southwest Asia (SWA) since 2002, and is a rapidly-growing small business with a large footprint throughout the USCENTCOM Area of Operations in support of the US Department of Defense and Joint Forces. Today Trace Systems has forty full-time engineers and technicians on the ground in Afghanistan as of 2012. DOD announced:
