CONTRACT AWARD: $31M for Construction at Naval Station in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

URS Group, Inc., San Antonio, Texas, was awarded a $31,181,234 firm-fixed-price task order JM01 under a previously awarded multiple-award construction contract (N62742-09-D-1174) for replacement of a fuel pier and truckload facilities at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay. The work to be performed provides for demolition of the existing pier and replaces it with a concrete fuel pier which includes fender piles, mooring dolphins, a control building and a ramp to transition from the pier to the shore.

The project also includes fuel piping, ship hose service with spill containment, constructing a new road leading to the pier, telephone, fire alarm and suppression systems, oily water collection system, and construction dredging. Work will be performed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and is expected to be completed by September 2015. Fiscal 2013 military construction, Department of Defense contract funds in the amount of $31,181,234 are obligated on this award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Four proposals were received for this task order. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast, Jacksonville, Fla., is the contracting activity.
