DOD Contractor Census, 1st quarter Fiscal Year 2022 | USCENTCOM

BACKGROUND: This report provides Department of Defense (DoD) contractor personnel numbers for 1st quarter Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22) and the current status of efforts underway to improve management of contractors accompanying the United States (U.S.) Forces. It includes data on DoD contractor personnel deployed in Iraq and Syria, Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR); and the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR).
KEY POINTS: During the 1st quarter FY22, USCENTCOM reported approximately 18,918 contractor personnel supporting DoD in the USCENTCOM AOR, a decrease of approximately 1,499 from the previous quarter. As a reminder, USCENTCOM AOR totals include contractor personnel providing capabilities in Israel.

DoD Contractor Population Trends (FY12–FY22)*

*** Information on the contractor population in Israel is included in the USCENTCOM AOR totals starting in the 4th quarter FY21.
OIR (Iraq and Syria) Summary
The distribution of contractors in Iraq and Syria by mission category are:

Contractor Posture: Approximately 5,802 DoD contractors directly supported DoD-funded contracts in Iraq and Syria. This is an increase of 29.3% from 4th quarter FY21. The increase is partially attributable to the Air Force updating the Synchronized Predeployment and Operational Tracker-Enterprise Suite to include Foreign Military Sales contractors in Iraq.
