Contract Award: $9M by the Army Corps of Engineers for Electrical and Communication in Afghanistan

MTNT Energy, Inc. has been awarded four separate contracts for electrical work in Afghanistan during the last 3 years.  The US Army Corps of Engineer’s confidence and satisfaction with MEI’s performance was confirmed Friday for their work in Afghanistan through the years.  These contracts provide electrical support services for the installation of high voltage transmission and distribution of electrical services, repairs of existing services, and communication services in Afghanistan.

Department of Defense (DoD)MTNT Energy Inc., Anchorage, Alaska, was awarded a firm-fixed-price contract with a maximum value of $9,500,000 for the installation, maintenance and renovation of new and existing electrical and communication equipment in support of deployed U.S. Forces throughout Afghanistan.  Type of appropriation will be determined with each order.  One bid was solicited, with one bid received.  The Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia, Penn., is the contracting activity.

The scope of this work typically includes installation, maintenance and/or repair of fractional to single megawatt generators, transformers, distribution panels, interior and exterior wiring, and other electrical/communications related items.  Work is performed in a hostile environment with temperatures ranging between five and 130 degrees Fahrenheit.  MEI’s efforts in Afghanistan have improved the military’s mission and we will continue to provide safe and reliable electrical power in the future.
