Professional Overseas Contractors

According to the Department of Defense (DoD), the contractor has been awarded an $11,766,078 to task order previously awarded for remotely piloted aircraft operations and maintenance support.

Work will be performed at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan, and is expected to be complete by March 31, 2018. Fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance; and overseas contingency operations funds in the amount of $11,766,078 are being obligated at the time of award.

According to the Department of Defense (DoD), Two airlift companies have been awarded contracts for rotary wing aircraft, personnel, equipment, tools, material, maintenance and supervision necessary to perform passenger and cargo air transportation service.

The first airline had $11,080,848 added to previously awarded contract HTC711-11-D-R021. The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $363,385,956 from $352,305,108. The second airline had $10,370,572 added to previously awarded contract HTC711-10-D-R026. The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to $542,770,515 from $532,399,943.

Afghanistan's national security adviser is appealing to the U.S. to provide aircraft to background operations in the country until Afghan security forces can do the job alone. Mohammed Hanif Atmar told reporters in Brussels on Tuesday that "we will need a kind of filling-the-gap measure from the United States."

Atmar said "it will take us time" to develop close air support capabilities but didn't indicate how long. He said Afghanistan doesn't need more troops.
