DOD awards an additional  $7,665,000 to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract with reimbursable elements to exercise a one-year option period for the operation of the offshore support vessel HOS Red Rock to provide support services in support of Navy operations.

Work will be performed worldwide and is expected to be completed, if all options are exercised, by Feb. 28, 2026.

According to the Department of Defense (DoD), the contractor was being awarded a $33,619,420 for the operation and maintenance of four modified offshore-supply vessels identified as T-AGSEs serving as blocking vessels in support of the Navy.

The contract includes a 215-day base period, nine one-year option periods and one 150-day option period. Work for this option period will be performed at sea worldwide, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2019.

According to the Department of Defense (DoD), the contractor was awarded a $7,883,975 contract for the operation and maintenance of the Offshore Petroleum Discharge system (OPDS) vessels.

This contract includes a 12-month base period, four 12-month option periods and a six-month option which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $44,328,185.  Work will be performed at sea worldwide and is expected to be completed by June 2019.

American Overseas Marine LLC, Quincy, Mass., is being awarded a $32,668,153 modification under a previously awarded firm-fixed price contract (N00033-10-C-5300) to exercise a one-year option period for the operation and maintenance of seven large, medium-speed, roll-on/roll-off ships. These seven ships support the deployed military forces worldwide. Work will be performed worldwide at sea and is expected to be completed by April 2015.

Working capital contract funds in the amount of $14,616,880 are being obligated at the time of award. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00033-10-C-5300).

Department of Defense (DOD) awarded Tote Services Inc. an O&M contract to support Military Sealift Command offshore petroleum distribution system ship USNS Vice Adm. K.R. Wheeler, and its support vessel USNS Fast Tempo.

The 2 are U.S. Navy’s only vessel capable of pumping diesel or aviation fuel to shore from up to eight miles off the coast. With flexible pipe stored on 35-foot-tall spools on its weather deck, Wheeler delivers vital fuel to U.S. forces abroad during contingency operations where port facilities may be either damaged, destroyed or non-existent. The 145 foot Fast Tempo sails with Wheeler and its primary support vessel.

The private company Typhon is preparing to operate alongside the world’s navies, offering protection to cargo vessels sailing around the Horn of Africa.

Anthony Sharp of Typhon, wants to escort your commercial ship through pirate-infested waters.  A 50-year-old veteran of tech startups, grew up with a love for ships. On February 7, he’ll turn that boyhood affection into what might be the first private navy since the 19th century. Sharp’s newest company, Typhon, will offer a fleet of armed ex-Royal Marines and sailors to escort commercial ships through pirate-infested waters. In essence, Typhon wants to be the Blackwater of the sea, minus the stuff about accidentally killing civilians.

Contract Award: $7M to US Navy Vessels Offshore

Today Department of Defense awarded Offshore Service Vessels, LLC $7,264,728 contract to support up to 30 military personnel for 30 days without resupply for U.S. Navy missions. The vessel will also provide support to Maritime Security Operations.

Offshore Service Vessels, LLC (Edison Chouest Offshore) provides marine transportation services for customers in the United States and internationally. The company also engages in operating a marine port to transfer cargo and to provide support services to accommodate deepwater offshore vessels; the design, engineering, manufacture, and installation of custom control and monitoring systems to the general public and the marine industry; distributing marine PCs; the design, manufacture, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; and providing repair services and parts.
