COMUSNAVCENT N61 (contracted via CACI / formerly L3 NSS), Naval Support Activity, Manama Bahrain Aug 2012 – present.
Sole onsite Office of Naval Intelligence SCI IT Fleet Representative that aids NAVCENT with supporting and defending US, coalition and partner interests in the maritime environment, and to defeat terrorist actions in the maritime environment. All operations are directed by US Central Command.
Field Service Engineer
- Proactively manages all Joint Worldwide Intelligence Community Servers (JWICS) and a single multi-zone GCCS I3 server. Responsible for DNS, DHCP, Exchange 2013, Microsoft Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers, McAfee HBSS Antivirus solution, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and overall Active Directory health. In addition to providing Enterprise O&M of Active Directory, facilitates requirements between NAVCENT, ONI, JDISS, and NAVIDFOR. Functions as the Office of Naval Intelligences’ sole onsite technical liaison for all matters pertaining to the JWICS network at Navy Central Command (NAVCENT), Bahrain.
- Created a detailed migration plan and carried out the installation and configuration of 6 new servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2…stood up two Domain Controllers, two Exchange Servers – version 2013, Windows Software Update Server (WSUS), and an application server. Also, followed Program of Record Installation Procedures to bring online a 48 Terabyte NetApp FAS 2240-4 Storage Area Network. Gracefully transferred all user data to the new storage appliance and decommissioned the legacy servers. Created a PowerPoint slide that tracked all aspects of the project and kept Senior Leadership informed via weekly reports and monthly briefings.
- Launched the Group Policy Management Console from Windows Server 2012 R2 and created new policies that mandated the use of a standard login screen, desktop background, prohibited switching users, and mandated the use of SSL v3.0 from Internet Explorer.
- Routinely sought by peers to apply / reset Cisco port security and to place devices such as Cisco IP phones, Cisco Telepresence devices, Cisco VTC Suites, HP printers and servers, and Windows 7 workstations in to their assigned VLAN.
- Developed and carried out a detailed plan to update the customer’s client workstations to Windows 10 from Windows 7. In addition, carried out life cycle replacement of 270 older model workstations without incident.
