As the Project Manager (PM) I serve as the overall in-country manager responsible for the identification, development, implementation and management of the organization’s security program. I am responsible to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) and/or Regional Security Officer (RSO) for all task order specific performance issues. I oversee the development of an effective strategy to mitigate risk and maintain continuity of operations in accordance with the requirements specified in the task order. Provide direction, in coordination with the Local Program Manager (LPM), to the in-country staff in identifying, developing, implementing and maintaining security processes, practices, and policies throughout the organization to (1) respond to incidents, (2) reduce risks and (3) be aware of and have access to information on any potential risks to the task order and all involved parties (i.e. financial, physical security, reputation etc.). Provide a safeguard to both the government and their organization’s assets, including intellectual property.  Recommends appropriate standards and associated risk controls for the task order to the LPM. Coordinate with the CONUS and OCONUS Managers in developing professional relationships with OCONUS personnel including, but not limited to; Embassy personnel, RSO and RSO staff, private security personnel working for other government agencies, diplomatic personnel, and foreign security personnel. Coordinate with the OCONUS Project Managers and Deputy Project Manager in implementing operational strategies that will ensure protection for (1) the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and any location WPS Program encompass (2) U.S. Embassy Foreign Service Officers performing official duties, (3) visiting government and non-government personnel supporting official U.S. Government business and (4) individuals or groups who are directly supporting development or reconstruction for or in conjunction with the U.S. Agency for International Development. Ensure timely and accurate reporting, as outlined in the task order and in this contract. Coordinate with the LPM in ensuring that the personnel working under the task order are approved for any position / labor category they will be filling. Performed the duties of the Risk and Safety Advisor for four episodes of Dual Survival (Season 3) broadcasted on the Discovery Channel. These duties encompassed the security, safety and medical needs of a group of individuals ranging between 15 – 25 people. The range of filming locations included Chile, Ecuador, Zambia and Romania. As the risk and safety advisor has overall responsibility and final say on all risk and safety matters for the team (self, staff, crew and hosts). Accompany the advance team during the initial site visit. Develop risk assessments, health and safety briefings of the local region, health and safety policies, field site inspections, accident investigations, training of management, staff and hosts, fire risk assessment and training, liaison with local authorities and police to ensure appropriate licenses and consents are granted. Advise the company on the hiring of local security, medical, fire and rigging staff. Manage and supervise the local security, medical, fire and rigging staff. Establish effective working relationships with production contacts, provide timely advice and support, deliver safety training and suggest ways of meeting the business/production needs while ensuring health and safety requirements are met. I was recruited to work for Rozene Development International (RDI) as the Director of Afghanistan Operations. This company was one of many start-up companies that fell under Prairie Ventures Management (PVM). PVM put me to work with some of the other companies (HealthInterlink, Labotix, Quality Star, etc) during the negotiations of six contracts between RDI and the U.S. Government. At the end of 2010 I was moved to the parent company Prairie Ventures Management. In addition to my program manager duties I planned, directed and coordinated the operations of the above mentioned startup companies. Formulated policies, managed daily operational activities, and planned the use of materials and human resources toward maximum productivity. Determined staffing requirements, interviewing, hiring and training new employees.

  • Solicited 6 multi-million dollar contracts with NATO/CTSC-A in Afghanistan, at the request of the NATO/CSTC-A Command Surgeon, to help build up the healthcare infrastructure throughout Afghanistan
    • Teacher and Village Health Care Worker Program; $66 million/multi-year contract.

Transitioned the project over to the incoming managing director and acted as Subject Matter Expert (SME) when needed.
  • Project manager for a $3 million congressional earmark through TATRC in building an alpha prototype medical device for the U.S. military
  • Was part of the project management team in developing a remote patient management device for launch at the American Telemedicine Association’s convention in Tampa, FL. Outlined requirements, developed schedules and communicated with team members and stakeholders, performed multiple inspections and audits to determine that the product was on schedule, and provided lessons learned. The launch at the ATA was a success, many leads were developed meeting schedule and budget requirements.
  • A USDA grant was released to provide telemedicine funding for rural areas within the U.S. Created a project to market a remote patient monitoring (RPM) product to rural hospitals and get applications for grant. Developed project charter, identified local stakeholders, outlined statement of work and created documents and templates to utilize in creation of the individual applications for customers. Communicated with stakeholders via webinar and documented lessons learned for future grants.

Serves as the Special Operations (SO) subject matter expert (SME) for the building, integration and development of a newly added U.A.E. Special Operations Battalion. Special Advisor to the Battalion Commander. Assisted in the development of scenarios for rapid infiltration, close quarters battle, counterterrorism, small unit tactics and other SO missions. Worked with the training officer to develop marksmanship, tactical driving, tactical medicine, air assault programs and other training priorities while implementing the Battalion Commander’s approved Training Guidance. Develop training outlines and assess the implementation of the above training. Build relationships with adjacent units within the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Health.

After a successful career in the military while serving in five combat zones throughout the globe I was selected for the United States Army Sergeant’s Major Academy at 15 years of service. Following the academy I was assigned to my final position as a Sergeant Major. As a military unit’s senior enlisted advisor, a sergeant major constantly works closely with subordinate enlisted leaders. The Sergeant Major provides timely and accurate advice to the commanding officers in all matters related to enlisted troop activities. Also, the larger the unit or organization to which the sergeant major is assigned, the greater the advisory capacity of the position. The Sergeant Major carries out policies and standards of the performance, training, appearance, and conduct of enlisted personnel. The Sergeant Major advises and initiates recommendations to the commander and staff in matters pertaining to the local NCO support channel. ALE-PAC is a Special Operations unit that liaises between United States Army – Pacific (USARPAC) Command, the largest major command in the Army, and the Special Operations Command – Pacific (SOCPAC).

  • Sergeant Major of ALE-PAC, a forward-stationed section of the Special Operations Sustainment Brigade, Fort Bragg, NC; responsible for planning and coordinating logistical support for all Special Operations Forces in the Pacific.

    • Selected as SOF project management team member in Yama Sakura; an annual bilateral training exercise between the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Forces (JGSDF) and U.S. troops with the objective of exchanging military techniques, ideas and culture. Planned missions and coordinated integration between SOF and non-SOF units. Updated risk matrix. Inspected units and equipment prior to start of missions. Closed procurements and provided lessons learned for future exercises. Exercise was deemed a success by sponsor allowing for future exercises.
