  • Although the MOD’s presence in the Falklands is primarily defensive, the islands also provide an important training ground in a unique and testing environment. Some 1,700 military personnel are based at the Mount Pleasant Complex, a self-contained garrison site 35 miles from the capital, Port Stanley.  The site is centred on the main airstrip and the building infrastructure supports all the military activities, accommodation and leisure facilities. In addition, there are a number of outlying sites both on the East and West Islands. Ascension Island, meanwhile, is a strategically important stop-over point for the UK military travelling to the Falklands.
  • Supporting the MOD in conjunction with Defence Infrastructure Organisation services group, to service and maintain the MOD’s operations on the Falkland Islands and Ascension Island.
  • Fundamentally delivering – help-desk facility, mechanical and electrical asset maintenance, power generation, sewage and water treatment, construction plant and equipment maintenance, waste disposal, grounds maintenance, airfield ground lighting, stores management, Ship to shore services, Fuel Infrastructure / support, soft services to include the running of the contractor welfare facility which housed 1,500 contractors in peak times.                                     Managing Quantity Surveyor / Engineers Representative  

 

  • Playing a pivotal role in the management of a wide variety of projects for this international consultancy group refurbishing luxury hotels for – Marriott, Hilton, Conrad, Four Seasons and Starwood.
  • Responsible for the production of detailed cost plans based on the accurate interpretation of design information and prepared Bills of Quantities.
  • Managing the tender of documentation and award processes and dealing with all aspects of contract administration through to final account completion
  • Successfully completing, within budget, a number of projects ranging in scope, size and value, including:
    • Whole tower room refurbishments; lift renewals, façade work & lighting, new entrances, ground floor reorganisation including new restaurants, bars and reception areas, extension works, swimming pools and entrance road widening
  • Due to the Arab uprising within the Middle East, the projects were wound down and subsequently put on stop until the crisis eased. As the political predicament has continued, it was decided to withdraw from Egypt for safety reasons.
