Oct 2004-April 2006– Assistant Operations and Training Chief for, 1st Medical Battalion, 1st MLG Camp Pendleton, Ca serving over 300 direct in-house military customers and over 800 augmented individuals, in the provision of tactical, medical, general military and, personnel specific training. As the training chief, successfully managed a highly effective team of 20 in the remarkably fluid and dynamic battalion training section, responsible for maintaining cognizance training for the Marines and Sailors of 1st Medical Battalion and Augmented Individuals throughout the training lifecycle, Lead the completion of all required pre-deployment medical training for 1st Medical Battalion and for the Marines 1st Marine Expeditionary Force (IMEF). Supervised 20 subordinates in support of 1st Medical Battalion’s training mission and objectives, to include: Training of over 450 participants in Basic Life support, (BLS), BLS Instructor and Combat Lifesavers course, additionally responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and supervision of all operations for 1st Medical Battalion, including all annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly training plans, all situation reports, and preparation of all operational and training data for the Commanding Officer.
Feb-Sept 2004-Deployed to Camp Al Qa’im, Northwest Iraqi desert, In Support of OIF II, as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Forward Resuscitative Surgical System 2. Supervised a team of 10, lead the daily operations in an austere and highly stressful combat environment, and directly provided stabilizing care, and assisted with lifesaving procedures for the Marines of 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, and other casualties as necessary.
Apr 2001-May 2003 Lead Surgical Technologist, Orthopedic service, for the naval Medical Center San Diego, the largest Military Medical facility on the West Coast. Supervised a team of 14 technologists and a monitored a $1-3M annual orthopedic resource budget. Supervised all preparation of instrumentation (Total joint, arthroscopic, and open surgical cases)/consumable supplies and implantable devices for each surgical day.
Mar 1991-May 1993 Assistant lead surgical Technologist General /Laparoscopic team, upon returning from Operation Desert Storm, assisted with the supervision of the largest military general surgery program on the West Coast, this included cleaning and preparation for sterilization, initiating repair orders for broken instrumentation and the commencement of the very first laparoscopic surgical procedures performed in the Naval Medical Center San Diego. This included building a new type of laparoscopic instrument set for each specific surgery performed, the team worked with vendors
