My primary functions are to perform a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks in assisting Nursing staff, physicians and other professional personnel in the psychiatric unit with veterans of, post-traumatic stress disorder, serious mental illness and a variety of psychological needs that may have a psychiatric diagnosis. Supervises the environment to ensure safety at all times on the inpatient psychiatric unit. As a Nursing assistant I must know how to refer suicidal veterans and get immediate assistance from other mental health provider, RN/NP MD. Establish and maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients. Ensures that patients are oriented to unit’s schedule, policies and procedures.
I supervise patients in their evening, overnight and early morning activities. Supervised activities include, but are not limited to, building curfew, “lights out,” wake-up times, morning activities of daily living (e.g. grooming, meals, etc.). I am also responsible for supervising patients so that they can start their daily activities on time. I report and record current observations such as patients’ physical condition, emotional response and results of procedures; observe skin conditions, variation in vital signs, personal habits of patients, and listen for clues to patient’s reaction to illness and treatment. Report completed work in tour report for the oncoming tour. Responsible for the timely completion of all required documentation, including pertinent occurrences, using SOAPIE Format for documentation of reports and findings in the electronic patient medical record (CRPS/VISTA/GUI).
I am responsible for the supervision of, maintaining security for a therapeutic environment and regularly inspect the patient sleeping areas and surrounding environment for compliance with hospital health, safety and security policies and I am responsible for supervision of patients and/or notification of appropriate hospital personnel to remedy deficiencies (e.g. unauthorized entry or exit, missing or absent patient, patient in possession of contraband). My management responsibility on Intelligence & Security Command (INSCOM), this contract was the second largest contract in Iraq after Kellogg Brown Root’s (KBR) Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP). Responsibilities include overall management, care for personnel and their welfare, air & land movement of several hundred local nationals and US-hires, local national cash payrolls in excess of over $1,000,000 dollars without any loss, liaison with full spectrum of US military units utilizing this high-value embeds, spread over a numerous outposts in a broad geographic area of responsibility in a combat zone. It was also my job to managed classified/sensitive information and assets. It was my responsible for interpreting and applying government contract clauses. I acted as a stand-in for the Regional Manager in his absence above other DRM’s theater wide.

I was responsible for enforcing policies and procedures for Military and Civilian personnel as a Non-Commissioned Officer. Duties included but were not limited to packaging, handling, storage, and transportation (PHS&T) plans as part of the overall Life Cycle Sustainment Program that increases sustainability while reducing total ownership costs. Assist S-4 in daily operations as necessary such as issuing weapons, uniforms, etc., etc. Processed and or prepared over 500 military and civilian personnel weekly for CONUS and OCONUS deployments and redeployments. Directly involved in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) processing as our staff had to develop and disseminate directives to military personnel and civilians daily in preparation/processing for their deployments and re-deployments. Made changes to SOPs and or policies and procedures as necessary to ensure the deployment and re-deployment process operated effectively and efficiently. Provided logistical support for Deployee’s & Redeployee’s on the following operations: Operations Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Noble Eagle, Operations Joint Forge/Joint Guardian.
While assigned to CRC, attended Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC) and Logistics (LOG) Warrior training. Combat Training Center (CTC) experiences. Created and maintained analytical data and documentation using property management systems. Troubleshooting, and repair procedures on all equipment. Also was responsible for vehicle inspections/maintenance and repairs.
