Iraq - Afghanistan Contractor Census, 3rd quarter (Apr - Jun 2013)

CONTRACTOR SUPPORT OF U.S. OPERATIONS IN THE USCENTCOM AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY TO INCLUDE IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

BACKGROUND:  This report updates DoD contractor personnel numbers in theater and outlines DoD efforts to improve management of contractors accompanying U.S. forces.  It covers DoD contractor personnel deployed in Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF); Iraq; and, the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR).  

KEY POINTS: In 3rd quarter FY 2013, USCENTCOM reported approximately 129,100 contractor personnel working for the DoD in the USCENTCOM AOR.  This total reflects a slight decrease from the previous quarter.  The number of contractors outside of Afghanistan and Iraq make up about 15% of the total contractor population in the USCENTCOM AOR.  A breakdown of DoD contractor personnel is provided below:

DRS Technical Services Contract Renewed in Afghanistan

Department of Defense (DoD)DRS Technical Services Inc., Herndon, Va., was awarded a $25,511,888 modification (PZ0008) to a previously awarded time-and-materials, option-filled contract (W52P1J-13-C-0008) for the development, deployment and maintenance of tactical and management information technology systems and products.

Work will be performed in Afghanistan. A combination of fiscal 2013 operations and maintenance and fiscal 2013 procurement funds in the amount of $14,119,443 are being obligated on this award.

Trace Systems Awarded $6.9M to Procure Information Technology Services in Afghanistan

Trace Systems, Inc. Small DoD contractor headquartered out of McLean, Virginia had their contract renewed today in Afghanistan. Trace Systems first won the contract back in 2010 after a full and open competition by the Bagram Regional Contracting Center.

Trace Systems has been supporting communications, networking, IT, and IA requirements throughout Southwest Asia (SWA) since 2002, and is a rapidly-growing small business with a large footprint throughout the USCENTCOM Area of Operations in support of the US Department of Defense and Joint Forces. Today Trace Systems has forty full-time engineers and technicians on the ground in Afghanistan as of 2012. DOD announced:
