Camp Lemonnier is the primary base of operations for U.S. Africa Command in the Horn of Africa, and provides, operates and sustains superior service in support of combat readiness and security of ships, aircraft, detachments and personnel for regional and combatant command requirements and enables operations in the Horn of Africa while fostering positive U.S.-African Nation relations.

The Camp of more than 4,000 U.S., joint and allied forces military and civilian personnel and U.S. Department of Defense contractors has 20 new facilities projects, which includes an aircraft apron, runway, chapel, DFAC, a second recreation center, water production and distribution center and a wastewater treatment plant including construction projects funded this fiscal year 2012-2013 by overseas contingency operations appropriations. These projects are expanding the Camp's operational capability and increasing the utility infrastructure.

KBR has a long history of contingency construction and support operations for the Department of Defense and other Federal Agencies throughout the world.

The U.S. Navy recently awarded KBR a contract under the Navy’s Global Contingency Construction Multiple Award Contract. This contract, awarded to KBR and three other firms, is valued at up to $800 million over five years and provides immediate response for civilian construction contract capability in the event of natural disasters, humanitarian assistance, conflict or projects with similar characteristics.

Department of Defense (DOD) renewed CNMS joint venture construction contract at Hickam AFB Hawaii. Construction work started for this task order back in 2010 and which includes a team of 4 contractors between Hawaii-based Nan Inc., Alabama-based Caddell Construction Co. Inc., Seattle-based Manson Construction Co. and Samsung Texas Construction Inc. The work is expected to be finished by 2015.

Department of Defense (DOD) CNMS, Joint Venture, Honolulu, Hawaii, is being awarded $18,066,075 for firm-fixed-price task order HC02 under a multiple award construction contract (N62742-10-D-1306) for design and repair of Headquarters Pacific Air Forces Building 1102 at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The work to be performed will include demolition, abatement, and replacement of aging mechanical, electrical, plumbing and communications infrastructure
