The Department of State has awarded Caddell Construction Company LCC of Montgomery, Alabama the construction contract, managed by Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), for the new U.S. Consulate General in Milan, Italy.

SHoP Architects of New York is the architect. The approximately 10-acre campus will provide a secure, sustainable, and resilient platform for U.S. diplomacy in Milan and across northern Italy.

The Department of State has awarded a $319 million design-build contract for the new U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, Nigeria.  The 12.2-acre site for the new Consulate-General is part of Eko Atlantic, a development led by South Energy Nigeria Limited in collaboration with Lagos State.

The location will provide the future diplomatic campus and its neighbors with access to sustainable, modern infrastructure, including an 8.5 km seawall designed to protect the city from rising sea levels and coastal erosion.

According to the Department of State, $15 billion was awarded for the Worldwide Protective Services III contract duration of up to 10 years. In being selected, Caliburn builds on its strong performance in executing current security task orders in Iraq and Somalia under the WPS II program.

The Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) has completed Stage I reviews and shortlisted 25 firms for the Worldwide Architectural / Engineering (A/E) Support Services Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) solicitation.

Following the second stage, the successful teams will support OBO on planning, engineering, design and construction reviews, and building maintenance projects for U.S. diplomatic posts worldwide.

Camp Eggers, Kuwait

According to the U.S. Department of State (DOS) a new task order under the Afghanistan Life Support Services (ALiSS) Contract. Task Order 14 is for Camp Eggers Support Services. It is for one base year with two option years, and is valued at $13.4 million if all options are exercised. Performance began on December 29, 2017.

DI is providing Life Support Services for Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan. This is DI’s tenth task order under the ALiSS contract.

Cathleen D. McGrade, age 64, was a contractor working for the State Department’s office of Overseas Building Operation and husband Brian C. Collinsworth, age 47, of Stafford, Va., pleaded guilty today to major fraud against the government, conspiracy to launder monetary instruments, and engaging in unlawful monetary transactions. Sentencing scheduled for November 2013.

Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Harold W. Geisel, Acting Inspector General for the Department of State; and Thomas J. Kelly, Special Agent in Charge of the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Section, Washington, D.C. Field Office, made the announcement after the plea was accepted by United States District Judge Liam O’Grady.
