The multi-building complex will be located in the city of al Khobar on a 10.5-acre site. The complex includes an office building, Consul General’s residence, Marine Security Guard residence, support buildings and facilities for the community. The complex will provide Consulate employees with a safe, secure, and modern workplace.

The new Consulate is also designed to be sustainable, incorporating both state-of-the-art features and elements adopted from local building traditions to reduce energy use.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP of San Francisco, California is the architect for the project. Caddell Construction Co. of Montgomery, Alabama will construct the facilities.

As part of the Department’s Capital Security Construction Program, the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) completed 133 new diplomatic facilities since 1999, with an additional 52 projects currently in design or under construction.
