Sierra Nevada Corp., Sparks, Nevada, has been awarded a not-to-exceed $15,800,000 undefinitized contract modification (P0007) to exercise an option to previously awarded undefinitized contract FA8620-14-C-3027. Contractor will provide Afghan National Army Special Operations Forces contractor logistics support for fixed-wing aircraft (PC-12) sustainment necessary to perform the maintenance operations and keep the aircraft operational.

Work will be performed at Kabul International Airport, Afghanistan, and Kandahar, Afghanistan, and is expected to be completed by March 16, 2015. This contract involves foreign military sales. The 645th Aeronautical Systems Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.

Aegis Defense Services, LLC, McLean, Virginia, was awarded a $12,756,407 firm-fixed-price contract for private security services at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 19, 2015. Sixteen bids were solicited, with four received.

Fiscal 2015 operations and maintenance (Army) funds in the amount of $12,756,407 are being obligated at the time of the award. CENTCOM Joint Theater Support Contracting Command - Kandahar is the contracting activity.

A federal audit has found problems with the State Department’s oversight of security at the U.S. Embassy in Afghanistan.

The audit, issued November 3, showed that, years after the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and long after Washington policymakers pledged to bolster protection for diplomats in danger zones, the State Department has failed to properly manage a security contract for one of the nation’s largest and most threatened embassies.
