According to the Department of Defense a company based in Herndon, Virginia, has been awarded a $44,428,104 service firm-fixed-price, cost-reimbursable contract in support of the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node E-11A platform maintenance requirement.
This contract provides for logistics product support for four E-11A modified Bombardier BD-700 Global aircraft, as well as subsystems and support equipment in support of overseas contingency operations.
BACKGROUND: This report provides Department of Defense (DoD) contractor personnel numbers for 1 st quarter Fiscal Year 2019 (FY19) and current status of efforts underway to improve management of contractors accompanying United States (U.S.) Forces. It includes data on DoD contractor personnel deployed in Afghanistan, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel (OFS); Iraq and Syria, Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR); and the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility (AOR).
KEY POINTS: During 1 st quarter FY19, USCENTCOM reported approximately 53,062 contractor personnel supporting DoD in the USCENTCOM AOR, an increase of approximately 3,611 from the previous quarter.

Work will be performed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Germany, with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2018. Fiscal 2019 operations and maintenance funds in the amount of $18,153,589 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

It is for one base year with two option years, and is valued at $13.4 million if all options are exercised. Performance began on December 29, 2017.

Private Security Firms Possibility in US Afghan Strategy
Jeff Seldin — U.S. policymakers are “very, very close” to a new military strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia, but options still range from withdrawal to an increased reliance on private security contractors.
“I believe we are close,” Defense Secretary Jim Mattis told reporters late Monday, cautioning a range of options are under consideration. “We’re sharpening each one of the options so you can see the pluses and minuses of each one,” he said.
The U.S. has about 8,400 troops in Afghanistan helping Afghan forces fight the Taliban, while also targeting militants aligned with the al-Qaida and Islamic State terror groups. Plans to send perhaps an additional 4,000 troops to boost U.S. efforts there have been delayed while the White House and military planners review various options.
The contractor has secured a five-year, $9 million contract from the U.S. Army to support the military branch’s public affairs office at Resolute Support headquarters in Afghanistan.

The U.S. Army Sustainment Command awarded DynCorp International (DI) a 12-month task order contract modification that began July 1 to continue providing base life support and maintenance services in Afghanistan under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) IV contract. The modification is valued at $217 million for services requiring more than 2,100 personnel at four locations. DI’s outstanding performance in delivering unequaled support services to U.S. forces across Afghanistan on this task order spans more than eight years with a total contract value of $6.7 billion.

This award is the result of a competitive acquisition, and two offers were received. Fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance OCO funds in the amount of $3,580,000 are being obligated at the time of contract award.
According to the Department of Defense (DoD), the contractor was awarded an additional $212,032,488 to a previously awarded contract for support of communications equipment and information systems under the purview of the Network Enterprise Technology Command (Army), 160th Signal Brigade and its subordinate units in the Southwest Asia Theater of Operations.
Work will be performed in Kuwait, Qatar, Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, with an estimated completion date of May 31, 2018. Fiscal 2017 operations and maintenance (Army) funds in the amount of $212,032,488 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, is the contracting activity.
